FAQs

  1. Which types of lamps can I use with the LFXHub?
All tungsten lamps connected to the internal dimmer pack work great (max. load is 3.6 k for Europe; 1.5 k fur US version). Combined with an external dimmer pack (DMX or 0-10VDC) you can control an unlimted number and size of tungsten, LED or fluorescent if a suitable interface is provided for these lamps. Combined with DMX controlled dimmer-shutters you can use one or more HMI(s) up to 18 k. Strobes with 0-10 VDC input or DMX input (e.g. the ATOMIC 300O of Martin) also work great.

  2. Can I control an HMI directly with the LFXHub (with DMX-module)?

Yes, if the ballast has a DMX input it generally works. It looks excellent for slow effects, e.g. lava glow effect made with an ARRIMAX. But be aware mostly the minimum dim level of an HMI is 50%, and, the response time is very slow. For that reason fire effects, and all effects with hard edges doesn´t look good.

  3. In which countries / with which operation voltage does the LFX tools work?
In all countries. There are versions with 200-240 VAC / 50Hz and 100-125 VAC/60 Hz power supply.

  4. May I operate the LFXHub with KinoFlo fixtures? Yes, with some of them. Get the connectivity data sheet "compatible fluoros within the download section. Most of the fluoros can be controlled with DMX.

  5. How long is the warrenty? 2 years

  6. Is my LFXHub already equipped with the DMX software?
Recall the "identity" menu of the LFXHub: rotary switch "EFFECT" to position "off/setup" > basic settings >identity > then push JOG button again > version CHP must be at least version 1.15. Call movie-intercom to make a software update or send an e-mail. Every ever sold LFXHub can be equipped with the latest release.

  7. What is the max output power of the LFXHub?
The internal dimmer pack provides max 3.6 kW (@230VAC) output power (US version: 1.5 kW)
Combined with one or more DMX / analog dimmer packs it is only limited by the maximum output power of the connected external dimmer(s).

  8. I would like to use an LFXHub as a stand-alone dimmer connected to a second LFXHub. Does it work?
Yes, the only thing you need is the universal cable. Connect the universal cable at the analog out jack of LFXHub #1 (this unit controls LFXHub #2), plug in the other end of the cable in the analog input of LFXHub #2. Turn the rotary switch of #2 to position "analog IN". Choose the desired effect at #1.

  9. An external DMX dimmer seems to soften e.g. a fire effect. It looks bad. What is wrong?
The dimmer curve is obviously not set to "linear". Please change the dimmer curve of all power outputs to "linear" at the DMX dimmer.
