Whether an effect in the film is convincing, be it a VFX water animation or an LFX lighting effect, depends on the choice of the appropriate luminaire and the quality of the control signal. If an effect does not look convincing, it distracts it – usually unconsciously – from the plot.
LED soft lights are therefore unsuitable for lighting effects such as “welding” and “candle” because the light emission must emanate from one small point – as with the original.
Hard cast shadows of a real candle or welder are therefore required for a realistic look.
LFX Master DMX 2.0 with new features
The radiating surface of even the smallest LED softlights is far too large and delivers unnatural-looking soft shadows.
For “Welding” or “Candle” we therefore recommend either a Dedolight DLEDY 2.1 BI (20 W) up to the DLED 9.1 BI (90 W) or a household-type bulb (e.g. 60 W) controlled via a DMX dimmer. These luminaires have a small radiating surface that produces hard cast shadows.
Thanks to its unique user concept, the LFX Master DMX can control virtually any LED lamp or tungsten (with DMX dimmer) for convincing lighting effetcs!
