RC4 Wireless has introduced new connection options with Phoenix quick connectors, additionally available to the screw terminals.

Smart & alternative self-made quick-connect solution for less than 1 EUR

Here we introduce another option for a quick and safe connection.

RC4 Wireless LumenDimM-series alternative connection with post pin-header

Advantage: quick connect, pins cannot be swapped because of fixed connection position, cheap

If you are familiar with a solder iron you can accomplish a similar connection option with a cheap pin header.

Required components

  • Pin header with a 2,54 mm pitch, at least 12 pins (for LumenDimM2) or 16 Pins (for LumenDimM4/M6),
available e.g. here, you may shorten it easily
  • heat-shrink tubing 2.5 mm or bigger depending on connected wire,
    available e.g. here

  • solder iron
  • some solder wire, lead-free

Guide

  1. Cut-off the total length of the pin header for a LumenDimM2 to 12 pins, for a LumenDimM4/6 to 16 pins using a side cutter. It has a pitch of 2.54 mm.
  2. As shown on the pic cut-off every second pin on long and short end of the pin header. Now it has a pitch of 5.08 mm. It fits perfectly into the screw terminals of the dimmer.
  3. Prepare some suitable heat-shrink tubes ø 1.5 mm or bigger, put it over the bare wires. Slip it away from the solder point.
  4. Solder your wires at the corresponding SHORT pins.
  5. Cover the solder spots with the heat-shrink tube and shrink it with hot pistol blower.

6. For even better durabilty use some flexible hot glue to fix wires.

Use a screw driver to connect it to the dimmer.

Swapped wires are impossible!

That´s it.
